College Basketball Roundup: 1/26/06

Okay, let's take a break from the serious and get to some fun stuff.

Or not so fun stuff.

Via Troy University Athletic Department: North Texas Has Just Enough Against Troy, 84-77

Not surprisingly, Bobby Dixon had a great night again, 28 points, 5 boards, 8 assists. However, man can't do it on his own. Troy shot only 36% from the field, while North Texas shot 10% better. That'll do it, my friends. Next game, Saturday night in a Sun Belt matchup versus Denver on the road.

In good news, AP via ESPN.com: Williams' double-double powers No. 2 Duke past VaTech

Duke really had control of this game from the opening tip. Good rebound from Saturday's loss versus Georgetown, espically since Virginia Tech beat Duke at home last season and Duke needed a last second, half-court shot from Sean Dockery to pull past them to tip off the conference season in November.

Williams led the team in points and rebounds with his double-double, 24 and 15. J.J. Redick had 24 points as well, going 2-7 from behind the arc.

However, it must be mentioned that my favorite Methodist earn a demerit for breaking out the black jerseys. Really, is it necessary?

Next up, Virginia at home on Saturday.
